La Bella 760FL vs. 760FS vs. 760FM

How would you rank the tension difference between these sets? Tone differences?

I just ordered a set of 760FLs since everyone here seems to recommend that guage, but I'm wondering how these other guages compare to the FLs and each other.

760FL, 760FS, and 760FM, right? It goes in that order from lowest to highest. The FL is a more balanced version of the standard gauge. (ie. The A and D don't feel like high tension cables in comparison to the other two strings.)

Even though I don't normally like high tension, I'm using the FM's right now, and they're great.

Resurrecting this thread rather than asking the same question... Does anybody else have an opinion on these sets? I'm about to order some formy Squier VM P-Bass, my first set of flats. I can't decide which guage to get!

I've only used the FM and FS and I settled on the FS. I like a deep thump and the FS gives me plenty. The FM's were just a little too much lows and tension. I've taken the set off but I am keeping it and not ruling out using it again. BTW, I have older basses and am concerned about too much neck tension.

I have the FL and the FS. The difference in tension and sound is huge compared to the slight change in string gauge. That said, if I recorded the two you would not be able to tell the difference.

I prefer the FL, I just think they are more "interesting" in their sound. The FS is more about the thump. I hope that makes some sense......

I switched out my FS set for DR flats. Same standard guage, same thump, but less tension and easier to play IMO.

I have the FL's on my P-Bass - the tension was higher than the rounds they replaced. But this lends it self to some efficiency in playing to some degree. They sound great and are brighter than you would expect when first put on.

I wanted the TI Flats - but could not get them in time and went with the Labella's - hear the TI's have less tension and a very unique sound. Still want to try them. Honestly don't think you could go wrong with any of them. The FL's are listed I believe as Medium Lights, they are close to the Round Wound Mediums I had on there - think the E is 104 vs. 105.
