CV P with HWY 1 black pickguard fender bridge cover. now La Bella Deep Talkin' BASS stainless steel flatwound 760FM .049 .069 .089 .109 on this bass sits so right! I love these strings with this bass! Chromes are just too bright right out the bag & they are really slippery these La Bella's are have just a little bit more grip then chromes plus have a super deep tight low end LOVE IT!

No other flats that I've tried have the 'authority' of the LaBellas. They're deep, but with lower/mid-range drive as well. I just can't imagine a better flatwound string for my P Basses .
Thomastik flats, by way of contrast, are an abomination to my ear, whatever bass I've tried them on .
Just my $0.02

They have more mids, more of a rounder sound, and less "clank" than Chromes. I have heard more than one person put them on a P-bass and say it's the "tone in their head".

Love both, really the Jamerson's just have more tension. If you you can believe it is possible over the 760FM set ! Enjoy!! |

I have them on just about all of my basses. Even my EBMM Sub 4!!
I have a set of 760FM's on my Gibson SG, they have enough tension to let me go to drop D on a short scale with no floppiness!!
Now that I can get medium scale Labella's I am going to pull the Chromes off my 32" Jazz and put a set on it too

On my Squier Bronco, Gretsch 2202 and '64 Gibson EB-0, I believe I am using the 760FL-S (short scale, .043-.104) set.

Those have been my favorite flats for years...the heavier gauge is a bit harder to muscle, but the tone and mass make it worth the extra effort! Best flats I've tried by a mile...not that I've tried them all

I have 760FMs on two old P basses, one tuned down a step which I love. and two other short scale basses, a mustang and a harmony hollow body, get the 760FLs. years later and I've never had a reason to switch it up. seems like I only have to change them every year or two, as well.
I met Eric, one of the owners I believe, at a small guitar show this year and found out they're a small family run company in Newburgh, NY. made me even happier to be using their strings. viva labella! |
