La Bella Deep Talkin' Rounds vs Hard Rockin' Steel

Sign in to disble this ad
In my ever constant quest for the perfect sounding strings (for me!) I have narrowed it down to the Deep Talkin' rounds or the Hard Rockin' Steels.

I have read everything I can find on both sets using the TB forums, listened to audio samples on basstasters.com and also checked out the bgra.net reviews. It's taken me all day and I am exhausted!

What I am most keen to know is out of the 2 sets which would have the highest tension (relatively speaking) as I have a short scale bass and plan to drop the E to D, and also which would best suit being played almost exclusively with a pick??

Any information, knowledge, expertise or experience would be much appreciated.....

i've never used deep talkin' rounds, but i regularly use HRS on my cirrus. i didn't notice a significant difference in tension from d'addario prosteel. the total tension is within 5 pounds of each other. labella didn't have any tension information for the the DTR.

I've been thinking about trying HRS myself. The Bass Player Magazine reviews say the HRS are hex core and I believe the Deep Talkin' have a round core. If that is correct I would think the HRS would have greater tension.
For myself I'm narrowing down my next set of strings to be either the HRS, DR Lorider Nickels or the Sadowsky Blues (ss or nickel)on Alder RW jazz with a vinatge SVT.
