La Bella Flats - 760FL vs 760FX

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey, ive been lookin for a set of flatwounds, and i ve decided on the la bella deep talkin flats.

Was just hoping anyone whose tried the 760FX Extra Light set (.039-.096) could comment on their feel and tension (and sound) compared to the 760FL Lights (.043-.104)

or compared to my current strings, roto round 66s .040-.095

so i guess im looking for a similar tension to the rotos, could go a little higher but wouldnt really want to go lower.

Thanks

I think the 760FL will compare a lot with your Rotos as far as stiffness. Rotos are always on the stiff side.

The 760FX La Bellas come as close, in my opinion, to the TI Jazz Flats as far as stiffness and ease on the fingers. The 760Fls will always thump more than the 760FX set, but after they break in, it's pretty close.

I just put the 760FX on a fretless. The "E" is way to loose. I'm going back Chromes

I've always been a huge fan of FL's. If your looking for a nice, deep, old style thump, the LaBellas are the way to go. Yes, the FX's are pretty close to the TI's in both feel and sound, but the FL's are a bit deeper and don't seem to require much breaking in (I've found that the E string is the one that needs a little time). There really isn't much comparison to Roto 66's and LeBella flats (that old apples and oranges thing), but the LaBellas do have a bit more tension and are waaaaaaaaaay smoother.

That's silly. Get the FL set. The LaBella's just plain SMOKE the Chromes, tonally.

La Bellas are long enough for any 34" bass, and maybe even some 35"s. Standard long scale will be fine.
