La Bella Flats on Fender Jazz

Sign in to disble this ad
I just read on the "Juststrings" site that la bella flats are not suitable on through body instruments, correct me if I am wrong but isn't my fender jazz a"through body" instrument? The jazz is a 2001 I believe.

Thanks in advance for replies.

My 98 is a string through only as well. Fender changed this on later models to an either string through or top load bridge. From what I've learned the La Bella Flats have super high tension and that puts undue damaging pressure on the through body only models.
You can go through the trouble of replacing the bridge with one of the aftermarket either or bridges or you'll probably want to choose flats with a little less tension.

DR are supposed to be great (Juststrings doesn't carry their flats though, I checked)
D'Addario makes Chromes.
Thomastik Infield Makes Jazz Flats (Expensive but really low tension).

Several other manufacturers make good flats. I myself have been on the search for a good set of flats for that same bass. I'm going to try DR Sunbeams next, although their not flats, they should be mellower than the GHS Boomers I've been using.

Good luck on the search and let me know what you decide and how you like them.

God bless R.
