La Bella HRS question

Sign in to disble this ad
well i think i want to try a set of their hard rockin steels on my 6.

do i want 40-60-80-100-128 (c single string then)

or the 29-45-65-85-105-128 set?

i have gone through many gauges of d'addario XL strings. i HATE the silly high tension of their .065 D more than anythink. really sticks out. annoying.

how balanced are the la bella sets?

how is their tension in general? say compared to hi beams 45-105 as a staring point.

thanks.

About the same as high beams in like guages. You'll notice a small difference in feel when you go from the tapered strings (which feel more flexible) to the nontapered strings at A and up (which feel stiffer).

I play 45-105-125 beams 95% of the time, and when I'm craving that super low-b and growly HRS sound, I go for the 45-105-128 set.

I personally find a .040 G string is a little light and nasally, and stick with a .045 because of this. I switched from LaBella HRS to D'Addario XL's and felt the XL's were a bit stiffer... so it may not be all bad. I'd recommend the 29-130 set.

i will start with 40-128 and another brand's c, i am a bit afraid of too high tension, as have developed a rather light plucking style.

thanks everyone. i will report on my impressions.
