I have an Epiphone Thunderbird with D'Addario Chrome flats. I'd like to try a set of the James Jamerson La Bella strings, and was wondering if anyone has ever played this combination. Also, will these thicker strings fit in the nut?

One problem you will have is with the bridge. The three point bridge is hard to adjust the individual string heights. The E string saddle needs to be so far back to intonate properly and you get into the thick winding of the string. It puts the E string real high and can sound dead. I use a Hipshot bridge and have no problems with the Labella's.
You may also have to file the nut to properly fit the string.

Will the La Bella 760FS size work better since they are not as big as the Jamerson set? Are these maybe still too thick?
