My experiences with LaBella have wildly varied. The tapewounds they make I really like, although one set I had had an A string which unravelled on me. One set of Slappers I had a D string which broke while I was tuning it (NO! I did not tune it up past the tone to an octave higher). Overall, they sound very good but do not last as long as other strings I have played. I haven't bought any in a few years.

I got a set of slappers and the bloody A-string also snapped on me (this was yesterday). The wrap at the top looks and feels cheap and the E-string began to unravel at the top so I had to trim it like it was a tree branch. Also, this was probably the most difficult set I've had to install. I was NOT impressed at all.

I'm either switching back to D'addario or trying DR or perhaps GHS next time.

Is it common for LaBellas to physically look different from string to string? I just got a set a couple of weeks ago and the physical look of each string is different, be it the shinyness or smoothness. It looks like I have a different brand for each string.

I've had the same set of Jamersons on my fretless Jazz for several months, even took them off and put them back on once and they're still as good or better than they were the day they were installed. Sorry to hear about your problems.
