Has anyone tried the La Bella Quarter Rounds? I can't find any good information by searching here.

How do they compare to, say GHS Pressurewounds?

I am looking into these as well. It looks like Big City Strings sells them online.

Anyone used these on a 5 string? Is the B tapered like other La Bellas?

I recently bought a set of La Bella quarter rounds and have tried them on a number of my basses. I have always dug Jerry Jemmott's tone with B.B. King and King Curtis and wanted to try out the strings that I think he had used. The first thing that I noticed after stringing up my Jazz bass was the rather rough feeling outer wrap. To me, the edges left from shaving down the outer wrap are course and uncomfortable for extended play (then again, I mainly use flats). I used them on a new American Standard P during a recent recording session with great results. The Producer and the artist were very happy and really dug the tone. I just don't enjoy the texture of the strings and swapped them out after the session was finished. The positive aspects of the strings (to me) are, very even string to string tension and volume. The tension is on the higher side but completely manageable. Also, the strings intonated exceptionally well on every bass i tried them on. I could hear on the playback that my instrument was in tune throughout it's entire range (especially chords). I'm keeping them around and maybe purchasing another set later but they won't be my main string.

I've never bought and strung up a bass with GHS Pressurewounds but I do sessions where I play an artists/studios bass and it's strung up with them. I found them to be comfortable to play. The outer wrap is slightly flattened and the exterior smooth. To my ears they have a round wound sound with more than a hint of thud. I found the intonation on his bass with these strings to be good. He's had it strung with the same set of strings for the last 6-7 years and it still plays well and sounds good.
