La Bella Tapewound .43 High "C"

Sign in to disble this ad
My Veillette basses came with a .43 (or so) high "C" vs. the typical .29.

Builder Martin Keith custom ordered them---they sound a whole lot better than the lighter gauge.

Ive noticed the La Bella catalogue shows the string as a 43 but still can only find 29s.

Anybody know how to either get a box of custom wound labellas strings or get the .43?

Hi Richard,

Hope you're doing well...maybe I'll see you at the metro area GTG!

If I understand correctly, LaBella have started using the .042"
tapewound as the stock C-string on their 6-string sets.

The string you have is indeed a custom-order piece, which took
some insistence on my part.

However, apparently in response to some other feedback,
they have (again, AFAIK) integrated the heavier C as standard.
The last sets I ordered included the thicker string.

However, if ordering directly from them, I would strongly encourage
specifying exactly what you want. Their product line
is very, very broad, and things can sometimes get lost in the mix.

On the plus side, that .029" string makes a great high F for
7-string or high-tuned 6.

Also - they are in Newburgh, which is on the way between
NYC and your place upstate. If you stopped in and spoke
to Richard or Eric Cocco or Bob Archegian, they could probably
help you out.

Best wishes,
Martin Keith

thanks Martin.

Having an incredible builder in the neighborhood is only enhanced by having a string factory.

The heavier C has much better balance than the .29. Its good to hear they upgraded.
