LaBella 760FLs on my Jazz = gold

That seems to be the magic combo (for me at least). I've been experimenting with different flats on different basses for some time now. I expected the TI flats I had on my 62 Jazz reissue would stay but I wasn't entirely happy with the tone -- not enough thump or bottom end. So I tried a (already broken in) set LaBella 760FLs on that bass this weekend and found the darker tone and extra tension really brought out the mojo, curing everything I'd been dissatisfied with. I still think TI flats sound great on P-basses, but on Jazz basses I'm now of the opinion LaBella 760FLs are the perfect string if you like thick, percussive old-school tone like I do. Try them if that's your thing.

I love em on my american jazz with the S-1 on series mode. The TI,s on my 64 J are very broken in and sound really good on that bass but the low tension Im not crazy about, might just put FL,s on that one too.

I currently am between these and Fender 7250s for my Fender Classic '60s Jazz Bass. It is currently strung with Sadowsky blue nickels, but I want a warmer, fatter, thicker, and darker string.

Sounds like you need to try the LaBella 760FL set, but just know you're going to need to be patient for them to break in. The set I put on this weekend was already on another bass last year for nearly six months so they were well primed. If you've not used flats before, they take a few weeks to season properly and LaBellas can take a few months even with daily playing. But they also last for several years so it's worth the wait.

I have a similar experience with the slightly larger 760fs labellas. Just the perfect feel and tone. I have no string gas! The best I have tried. I have a one year old set on my 72p and it is just the best sounding bass I have ever owned. I had these same strings on a CS 64 jazz and it was a great combo. But on the P it brings a smile to my face everytime. Very vintagey..

On my next jazz I might get the 760fls. I like a slightly smaller string on jazzes versus P's

Huge labella supporter!! Try 'em if you haven't!

I'm thinking about trying these instead of TI flats, how is the tension compared to the TI's? I tried hard to get used to the TI Flats but I can't get used to the super low tension.
