All I can say is HOLY ****!!!!!
Why didn't anyone give these strings some praise before???
These are the most incredible strings I've ever used, flats OR rounds!! I was very disapointed by the zingy almost metallic sound of the TI Jazz Flats, I've tried others, Rotosound as well as the ground round flats......I forget the company that makes them. They all seem sort of dead and flat sounding leaving me rather uninspired.
Now........The Labellas!!! These things have PUNCH and GROWL and even some nice highs. All things considered, I've never been so impressed by any other string. I put them on my favorite P bass, an OLD Aria "Primary Bass" GAWD they sound great!! I'll be buying a few more sets for one of my T-40's and my DS'ed T-45 and mabye a set for something else
I'm in LOVE with these strings |

I've had D'Addario Chromes on that bass for about 4 months and I don't think I like them as much as I remember the LaBellas. Too bright and clanky. |

Anyone who says flats are 'lifeless' and 'dead' hasn't tried La Bellas... |

| | | | I,ve got two jazz bass, one has a set of TI flats (hint-you have to play the **** out of them, brand new they dont impress, when they get broken in.... nice and sweet.) The other has Labella 760FL,s this bass also has the S-1 switch, so when you put the PU,s into series it really thickens up the already fat tone. I tried roundwounds on both basses and have come to the conclusion they both sounded better with flats. Just my opinion mind you. |

I just got a set of DR Flats and although they are nice there are some weird things about them. First they have a felt which I've never seen on DR's before and the G string has more or thicker felt than the bigger gauge strings. And, the E string is too long for my 34" scale USA Lakland Bob Glaub. I always string through the bridge not the body with all flats since I was told a long time ago it would crack the Flatwound string to run it through the body.
Anyway, the E string is too long and the full gauge of the string comes right up to the tuning post and make a terrible wrap. |

A friend recommended them primarily because "they last forever", but he forgot to mention the great sounds they produce.
If you want to try to get the 'Motown' sound, try them...I have them on three of my basses. |

I'd like the try the heavy Jamerson style DTF's before I buy them. I just ordered 3 more sets of the standard ones. I'm going to put one set on my 79 T-40 and another set DSed T-45. Not sure where the 3rd set will go yet |

| | Registered User | | Join Date: Oct 2002 Location: New Hampshire | | I've used them for a few years and love them. I used the 760FS (45-105) set until I needed a new pair (new bass) and they weren't in stock. So I decided to try the 760FL set (43-104) and at first I didn't really care for them. The D seemed really zingy compared to the other 3 strings, and the G in comparison to the G was a bit dead. So I went and bought some Fender 9050FL's (50-100) but hated the E string so I put the 760FL's back on. They seem a bit more broken in and balance though the D is still a bit zingy and just feels and even looks different.
But, I just ordered a set of the Jamerson's and should have them tomorrow. Bridge Cables of funk, here I come!

I'm actually having a hard time with my La Bellas (760FLs) having too much life. I've had them on my P for about a month but they still sing too much for the tone I want. The Fender 9050MLs I've used are more dead, but by contrast give me more thump.
I'm keeping the La Bellas on there for now but if they don't settle down eventually I may either try a heavier guage set or perhaps go with another brand. They're good strings, just maybe too bright for me.
