... if you have ??'s on each within the line-up, you may want to check with Jason @ bassstringsonline.com ... as he is a regular on here and has been extremely helpful with info for me, and also offers a discount to registered TB users when purchasing strings from him ... |

I do know that the FM sounds nothing like the M, at least to my ear. The FM is also stiffer, and sounds it.

I have them on my P-Bass at the moment and the DT mediums on one of my Jazz Basses. The regular DTs have a 'richer' or mid richer sound to my ear as the 1954s have thuddier/muddier sound that is more akin to the sound you hear on old stax/volt records. Both sound good and I don't think either is a bad choice. I am not certain if this differentce is entirely thanks to the gauge, tension,or construction though. They are by far the most tense string I have ever ever played. |

I have FL's and FM's and the FM's are significantly stiffer/heavier ... I have FS's but yet to try them on anything, but I cant imagine me going any heavier than the FM's ... those lead me pretty much to where the old Dean Markley flats I have take over, I think I could give somebody a concussion about 20 rows back with them and the right EQ'ing |
