Hello, I really love the LaBella 760FL on my P.
But I have a problem with the E string.
I have bought a first set about six months ago - the E was dead from the begining and the other strings were a bit zingy, but in couple of weeks they very nicely mellowed and have the smoothness and definition. Beautiful sweet sound.
Only the E was undefined and dull, more than the others.
So I have ordered a separate E string in hope that it will have the same development as the other strings - A,D,G.
Nope, the same repeated. E was way dead from the start.
Is it a pattern with this series of strings? What is your experience?
Should I order another separate E and hope to not to get a lemon again? |

But this is not the case, I every time do this technique of pressing the string against the saddle point.
I did it also with these two LaBella Es to no avail.
On the contrary, the Sadowsky flats have clear as a bell sound on all four strings. (of course "clear as a bell" meant within the flats sound-frame).
Just the LaBella Es are the bad boys..
And I prefer LaBellas over all other flats brands, the A,D,G are golden! |

don't forget, as you raise the E side of the P/U, lower the A side (balance)
it worked...i can't wait for these strings to be fully broken in!

It is a lot different sounding than other strings even unamplified. I will probably end up ordering another separate string anyways..
I just wanted to check if anybody with this 760FL set ever had a nicely defined sounding E |

On the last the D was strangely brighter and louder than the rest.
You could say I'm less than impressed with LaBella...

Make sure you have enough so the string winds down all the way to the bottom of the peg so you have as much downward angle as possible. Although, it is possible you got a couple of bad ones, so don't rule that out. I like the sound of both of those brands also, and found a great blend when using the Sadowsky 100 on the E, and the Labella 760FL set on the rest. I've even used the Sadowsky 40 on the G to get a better snap out of that string. That's a good balance IMO, even if the E and G are hex core, and A and D or round core. The best of both worlds actually.

You probably already know labella makes Sadosky flats, and I really think the only difference is the core. Both sound better than any other flat IMO. The Sad's in particular can sound like a roundwound if you pluck'em right. 760FL's are a bit softer sounding, but just a little bit yes?
Go try that combo set "plan B" and tell me what you think...
