LaBella Slappers: Are they back to being tapered?

I just received a set of SN43 and the e, a, and d are tapered. Not exposed core...... just tapered. I've used the SN42, and SN43 set in the past and I don't remember them being tapered. Anybody else using these?

I recently bought a set of extra long Slappers for my 5-string Brice HXB-405 and they were tapered. The strings however had other problems right out of the package that I'm still waiting on LaBella to resolve.
