...Do any of you use a .130 B on your Lakland? Did you have to file the nut to accomodate the larger gauge string? Thanks.

I have the DR Hi-Beams with a .130 B on my 55-01. I got them because I wanted a NON-tapered B string. I love them. No need to file the nut, and I'm OBSESSIVE about nuts being cut correctly. In fact, my Laklands are the only instruments I've owned (and I've owned a LOT of stuff in the last 30 years) that I didn't feel the need to take my nut files to.

Please let us know how you fare with the Lo Riders, I just converted to nickel strings and am torn on what to try next. So far I've tried D'Addario's and liked them pretty well, and I'm getting a couple sets of the Lakland nickels to try, but I'd like to end up with an untapered B as well.

Which string brands accomodate a 35 inch scale and string thru body?

Sounds like a common question, but I've used the Search function quite a few times and can't find a thread that answers it completely.

I've got two Lakland 5 strings and I dont' like the Lakland strings. I'd like to know what other 35 inch-plus players have found usable and enjoy the feel and tone.

I feel the need to specify that I use nickel strings at either .045-.125 or .045-.130 ..

Any answers are greatly appreciated.
