Lakland 55-02 and Elixir extra long strings?

Sign in to disble this ad
Anybody know if these strings will work if stringing through the body on the Lakland?
I just bought the 55-02 and don't want to blow $50 on Elixirs if they won't work.
Thanks!

Yeah the Elixir are great but make sure you get the taper wound so there is less angle over the bridge saddle. I always use them on my 55-94 and they sound great and feel awesome!

Gotta be taperwound. I just traded my 55-01 to a guy who used elixers exlcusively and couldn't get B and E strung through body. hE said they sat poorly on the saddles and wouldn't seat correctly in the nut. Now I have enver used them myself, but he uses them exlusively and told me very specifically the answer to your original question was no. Try the taperwounds.

FWIW, I'm the guy who got lousybassplayer's Lakland...

What he said is true. I tried to string thru-body, but the B and E strings were too "short"... That is, the tapered end of the strings (as opposed to the "wound" part) sat in the nut.

So, I ended up stringing the B and E through the bridge, and the rest through the body.

I've actually just ordered the D'Addario Coated Super Long Light set for the Lakland so I can string them all thru-body. Hopefully they work!
