Anybody used these for 5-string? Bass Player called them "the best flats for slap," but I take their reviews with a small boulder of salt. I'm getting kinda dissatisfied with the whole roundwound thing, at least on my Dean, which isn't really a funk machine anyway.

I use 'em on my Stingray 5. I like them.

I put 'em on a 5-string Reverend I had, and they sounded and played great...if you're looking for real flatwound tone (think Jamerson). I wouldn't even think of slapping on them, though.

Hmm...well, it's a moot point now, as I figured out how to get a great vintage Precision sound out of my Dean (neck pickup soloed, cut all onboard bass and treble). It works great for Steely Dan and Iron Maiden--only time you'll ever see those two names together...

Do they have that low-mid/low boom or punch that everyone says flats have?
