Recently I bought a used 2009 Lakland 55-02 (my first Lakland) and assumed it still had the stock Lakland steel strings on it. Now I have no complaints about the sound but in the interest of the pursuit of perfection I decided to try a set of Lakland nickels. When they showed up in the mail I compared them with the ones on the guitar and I see nor feel any difference, same color, same texture, same number of windings per inch, no difference as far as I can tell.
So my question to you Lakland string users before I put these strings on is: since the two sets look and feel the same does that mean I currently have nickels on the guitar? Or do the nickels and steels look and feel the same and the difference only become apparent when played?
Would rather not put these on if they're the same strings so I can offer a deal to someone on an unused set. So I'll wait for some words of wisdom here since I don't seem to have any in this matter (wisdom, that is).
