Larger guages and nuts

I've been wanting to step up my string gauge, I play the standard .45-.105 but I was hesitant because I figured that I would have to replace or modify the nut in order to house them?

Is this an issue?

How much larger are you intending to go? If it is only .005 per string you can get away with the nut you've got.

Yeah I'm mostly looking at ones that would be .050-.110. But I do see some D'adarios that are .055-.110.

anyone else have an opinion?
Vin*tone-your avatar scares the heck out of me.

You can use the string as a file to expand the groves. this way you also get the perfect size.

.110's should be ok. If you go farther, like to tune BEAD, then you might need to file the nut some. With the heavy set you're taking about, your bass could be tuned down to D standard, DGCF.
