Least expensive flatwounds?

I'm just trying to experiment with flatwounds. Anyone know of any "web specials" out there currently? I'm trying to avoid the usual 20-25 dollar price.

Right now, Music123 has Dean Markley flats for $18.99 plus shipping. Webstrings sells flats for $15 shipped. I personally don't like Webstrings, but I haven't tried their flats. Elderly has Fender 9050's for $16 plus shipping.

My TI Jazz Flats turned out to be VERY inexpensive, because they last forever. Mine were installed in 2000, gigged weekly, and sound the same. Otherwise, if you are buying only for experimentation, the TI will be very expensive.

Wouldnt "the cheapest strings" be a bad way to test flatwounds? they'll have the worse sound/playability too... Why not try something like Rotosound flats? hell, even BA likes 'em and he hates flats....
