Leaving bass unstrung for a day - Bad?

Ok, here's the situation. After breaking the D on my G&L L-2000 Tribute, I went to the local music store and got myself a set of D'darrio nickel wounds, regular light gauge. Upon getting home I realized that these strings are designed for 32' scale basses, and thus are too short to work on my bass. The store is closed. I'm wondering if leaving my bass unstrung for a day will damage it or screw with the neck at all. If so I can always restring it with the old strings, just for tension's sake.

The bad part is that I can no longer practice.

I dont think its GOOD for the bass. That being said, I have done it before in the past, only when there was no other option. It may be best to loosen tension on the truss rod, I am not sure though.

Also not an option, since I don't have any allen keys.

Mine has been unstrung since friday night. I'm going to string it right now. I wouldn't say it's bad, but most people recommend loosening the truss rod to prevent some kind of intense and sudden backbow. I doubt it's anything serious, but the neck will take a bit before settling in again.

Sounds like the next 24 hours wont be too hard on it. Good to know.

See, this is a good reason never to take all the strings off at once. Probably won't be a problem though. Those G&Ls are tough.

I've had strings off of my DeArmond Pilot Deluxe for weeks at a time, and there wasn't any significant change that I could see or feel. *shrugs*
