Hi all,
I typical try and use a light-medium gauge string on all my basses, as I have pretty weak hands and wrists and have had problems with CT and tendinitis before.
I'm thinking of stringing one of my basses up BEAD (either my VM Jazz or Stingray), which I've never done before.
What would be the right gauge strings to use for the lower tuning but still being a 'lighter' gauge in general? I hope that makes sense.
I understand the easiest way is to just get a 5-string set and toss the G. I usually use EB Super Slinkies.
Thanks for your thoughts.

| | | | i use ernie ball power slinkies, i think they're called. purple package, 110 low string. they're a little loose, but if you play light enough, they work great. plus, as a 4 string set, they're not as expensive as a decent 5 string set. |

If I were going to do the BEAD thing again, I would make sure the B is no less than .115. I use that set on my fives, by the way. |

| | | | I say shoot for a 125. (personally I use 140. for my B), my SX SJB-75 came strung with a 125. and it was pretty floppy and light (and for my medium to heavy touch it was awful) |

But I definitely don't want it to be floppy. Of course, maybe a B on that bass is going to be floppy anyway... hrm.
