Light Gauge Durable Strings

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey all,
I am looking for a set of strings that are light gauge (.40s) and are more durable than the DR Hi-Beams that I had on. I was happy with the high end I was getting, but the G string snapped last night. I generally have light-fair picking strength, and I am looking for a good set with sparkling highs, but not at the expense of the low end.
Any ideas?

My favorite set of rounds these days are Fender 7250 Light gauge (.40-.100). They are long lasting, still have enough tension to work with picks, and have a good tone. I also use the five string version (40-.115) on my fivers.

elixir extra light

elixirs make a real light set, and they stay fresh for much longer than DRs, but there tone isn't quite as punchy as hi-beams that are fresh.

Rotosound makes a swing bass 95 - 40 set. I use them myself and they sound great.
They're stainless steel too, so if you like bright zing, you've got it.
