You can go one of two ways for tapping - tighter and lower, or looser. I don't tap, but every bass I've set up for a tapper leans toward lighter gauges.
How light do you wanna get?

i've got jonas hellborg DR's on my fender P bass. they're the 1st set of light gauge strings i've ever used. I don't do much tapping, but I have noticed that when I DO tap its much easier on these strings.
