A little time? Taper/exposed core (brite) flats/groundwound??

Recently I switched from my beloved TruBass88's on a passive MIM JazzV because I was sick of not grounding out on my strings with a set of noisy (but tasty) single coils. I went to nearly the opposite end of the spectrum: Fender nickel taperwounds.

I find myself not thinking that my bass is anything but great once more but don't like that roundwound 'zing' at all.

I do, on the other hand, really like the taperwound E and B strings A LOT.

My bass feels like it's finally able to perform as it would like to - if you get the personification of musical instruments.

I don't like to have to turn my tone knob down to get rid of that zing, as there are lots of rich harmonics in the same places in the register as that bright tone - much of the reason I loved my nylon flats.

I still have my Rotos in case I decide to swap out my pickups for a set of stacked humbuckers or split singles or get a second bass...which I doubt will happen anytime soon.

What should I search for/look into that I couldn't find in my searches?

Let them settle in? You could also try the flats or half rounds. I put a set of the halfs on just yesterday, so no word on those yet, but the Daddario Chromes I've had for over a year now sound quite good, very warm and thumpy. The zing could just be a new string thing though, give it a month to settle in.

They're on for awhile for sure, but I'm looking for taperwound flats or brite flats now.

So...no taperwound groundwound/brite flats ??

I'm still looking for a possible need in the spring.
