Long lasting Stainless

Sign in to disble this ad
I did a search and the results were fairly inconclusive. I just bought a SB-14 and wouldn't mind trying a new set of stainless if they are truly better.

I normally play the Marcus fat beams 45-105. From what I've read, these strings have some votes for a good long life. But, I was just wondering if you guys think there would be a better choice.

When I read just the title I was going to suggest....FatBeams. You're not really going to do better than those

Depends on the bass. I was a DR DDT fan for a while (on a Cirrus) but on my custom I put on some D'Addario ProSteels and they have lasted more than six months. I haven't had strings last that long on any bass except for a Dingwall I owned. YMMV...

I'll have to give the Prosteels a try sometime soon. I haven't had any luck with d'addario strings on bass though. But for guitar they are all I buy.

If you're using FatBeams now, don't bother with that downgrade.

Yeah, FatBeams are the best I have used for steel strings. At least 90% of the people that I know who use D'Addario do so because of price, they are no bargain though...

Idk where you guys are buying your strings. A music site that sells them and rhymes with hamhash sells them for 26 dollars shipped free. D'addario isn't THAT much cheaper.

Prosteels are good also. As a personal quirk I can't justify the multi-colored ball ends, hehe. Plus I like the longevity and tone on the Fat Beams better.

Lo Riders...they're like Fat Beams with a hex core. I've had a set on for at least two years.

I thought the low riders had higher tension if I remember right. I really like the tension on the fat beams. Also what difference does the hex core make?

I think the hex core adds tension among other things.

Yep. Higher tension, less output.
