Long scale six stringer

I'm saving up for a Yamaha TRB1006 and wondering what strings would go well with it. On my current Squier P (strung with old Roto66s) and J (GHS Precisions), I play a lot of palm-muted, funk-influenced stuff. I'd like to know if it's possible to emulate the palm-muted sound through "normal" finger-style by using a certain kind of string or by some EQ trick I don't know about.
What 35" scale strings would be good for what I'm looking for? I'd like them to be roundwounds but as far as I know, 6-string flats are difficult to find anyway.
