Long scale strings on a short scale neck

Sign in to disble this ad
Picked up for cheap an Agile 5 string acoustic/electric for noodling around with and I already snapped the B when tuning it. Very shoddy looking strings, but I had read about this before I got it.

However, I'm having a difficult time finding.replacement strings for the 32" scale. Carvin has a "5 string acoustic/elec" set, bronze/phosphor but they're technically for 34". Can I just trim them a bit extra to fit the 32"?

Suggestions?
