I've used Fender and Elixir so far and I mainly just need the B and E strings to be taperwound. I know of the likes of Dean Markley SR2000 and DR Long Necks but it's difficult to get them where I live. I'll most likely resort to buying online anyway and have them imported as it looks like I'll have to if I want to try a new brand. Are the DR Hi Beams taperwound?
I just put some DR Longnecks on my Peavey Grind 5 string and I love them. Although I am a noob and this is my first set if stainless steel strings. I like them way better than the nickel EB slinkies I was using before.

For what its worth... The "Tapered" section on that page indicates if a set comes with only a tapered B or all strings. The actual product pages indicate which strings are tapered.
This also goes for the "Exposed Core" string section.
An important part of the design is the tapered core that goes over the bridge saddle. The Pedulla string tapers to one wrap at the bridge saddle (on the B, E, A. and D), which allows the string to focus rapidly on the fundamental and “make the bend” over the saddle with a precise angle, while keeping the tension just right.
If you look at a E string for example, the total thickness of the string continues from the nut past the saddle. On a Taper string, just before the saddle the outer winding gets thinner until the ball end.
This helps with string fitment especially with larger diameter strings. The string can pass over the saddle easier and also usually has a better fit in the saddle, the string can sit better.
So in short, they can help with string fitment especially with larger strings.
They say the strings have more flexibility and better response, brighter tone as well.
I would just order the SR200's. The blue Steels are pretty consistent as far as intonation and lifespan go.

DR Longnecks are all tapered except for the "G" string. The tapered lengths are extreme - on my BTB, the tapers extend over my bridge pick-up. Tone seems to be consistent. You may notice strange harmonic "effects" - e.g. tuning is hard to nail down . . .
