Looking for a Sound...........what strings should I try?

I just got my Squier VM Jazz that I bought here on TB. Great deal, great bass.

OK here the Big question. I want a deep, thumpy and bumpy sound. Maybe I bought the wrong bass (Maybe a Precision would suit my needs better but......) I just just wanted the SVM Jazz.

I took off the DR Hi-Beams that it came with and tried a set of Black Tape Wound Fenders. Results not totally satisified.

I have messed around with the pu settings and now I'm conviced I need to continue to explore maybe a heavy, flat chrome string. Any ideas that will help a 60 yo hillbilly that's looking for a good country, southern rock bass SOUND?

Not really an expert on this subject, but maybe you can use some flatwounds, perhaps age them a bit?
