I'm looking for some taperwound bass strings, besides the Fender Super Bass 8250's that will fit into the grooves on my Jazz V. Currently the gauges I'm using are 45-65-85-110-130. Are there any out there besides Fender?
Here's what the Fenders look like going over the bridge -

| | | | Maybe this will help. I made some measurements of taper strings that I have. The measurements are the taper length up to the ball. It does not include the width of the ball. You can measure the Fender's and compare. These that I measures are for a 4 string, however also the b would be tapered, I suspect to the same length.
ken Smith bass burners nickel plated steel, e,a are tapered measure 2 1/4 inch taper.
La Bella slappers nickel plated steel e,a,d taper measures 2 1/8 inch
Daquisto nickel plated steel e,a,d taper measures 2 1/4
Dean Markley SR 2000 stainless steel strings piano design e,a,d taper measures 1 3/4
Hope that helps to compare......Lapicide |

| | | | I know I'm a little late to this thread, but I've been going back and forth between the DR Long Necks and the Fender 8250s on my Vic Bailey Jazz V. Currently in a 8250 swing, I'm also looking for other alternatives besides these two... |
