I have been using Elixir's for a while but am just not satisfied with them lately. I need coated strings and have seen the exp's, extra lifes, and ernie ball coated strings but im sure there are others. Which ones do you use and how do you like them? |

They have a funky powderish coating that flakes away relatively quickly when new, but the tone to me sounded crisp and growly, unlike the muffled and bland sound the Elixir set I'm demoing.

If you can find a video of Eva Gardner(Pinks bassist), she uses these strings.
I guess I would compare them to Rotosound Jazz bass 77's but to be truthful, I've been using the Nexus on this bass for long enough that I've forgotten what the other ones actually sounded like on it.
