Looks like I should've read the whole thing...

On guitar center's website, i saw a 2 pack of d'addario nickel-plated strings that came with a free t-shirt for 24.99. So i figured "hey, you cant beat that" and i bought it. now i see that they are double ball bass strings for a steinberger (spelling?). Can i just cut off the ball at one end of each string and use them on a normal bass?

I don't think so, unless they are long scale & you have a short scale

Yeah, they probably won't be long enough. If they are though, I think it would work. You just might have to strip some of the out winding off for it to fit in the tuning peg

they'll be here tomorrow. i suppose i'll just send them back when they arrive; I won't even bother opening them.

Lol. Oooops. They wont fit on regular basses, not long enough. Yeah send em back unopened unless you think the tshirts worth $24.99. Lol.
