looolas??? lelas? $250/set? what are they?

so last night after a big festival we played.. a little bluegrass/acoustic jam broke out late night around the campfire.

some guy had a little practice amp and was jamming. i jumped in on his bass (carvin electric i think). he had these flatwounds on there that were smooth as freaking butter. sounded awesome.

he said they were coated and were around $250 a set!! and he said they have been on that bass for 4 years....

i can' remember what they were called. any ideas?

and if so....are they that great?

There are Double Bass strings in that price range...but I've not heard of electric or acoustic bass strings at that price level.
