| | | | Loose winding on GHS Precision Flats

I just got a set of GHS Precision Flats (M3050) and the windings on the E string look to be a bit loose. The best way I can describe it is the windings are not loose on the core of the string, but are loosely stacked or spread in relation to the other windings. If you look closely you can see the maple fretboard through the windings.
The gaps are very small but definitely there. I don't see this on the other 3 strings, and I've never seen it on a set of chromes.
Is this normal or should I be contacting GHS for a replacement? Thanks in advance!

| | | | Doesn't sound like any flat wounds I've ever seen, I'd be contacting GHS for a replacement.

| | | | I contacted Dave Cowles at GHS. He confirmed that this is not typical and immediately offered to send a replacement set.
Great customer service and a super quick response. Gotta love it. |

| | | I had forgotten about this thread and ordered a set of GHS Precision Flats M3050 Saturday from JustStrings and here I sit with a set just like you described, even the A string has gaps in the windings.
I'll be letting JustStrings know they need to take a look at their stock of GHS strings before shipping.

| | | Just got the replacement E and A strings from GHS. Here's a picture of the loose windings on the E string next to the good string GHS sent me.
The A string wasn't as bad but had several gaps in it as well. The D and G strings were fine. Dave Cowels at GHS got the replacements in the mail to me right away.

| | | Well, I've had the GHS Precision Flats on for three weeks now and I'm really likin these things.
I'm tempted to buy another set for my fretless, but I want to try the new Fender 9050 Custom Lights.
Anyone know how they compare?

| | | | I just received 2 new packs of GHS flats and the E and A strings both look like the "unwound" strings in the photo. They sound fine when I strung them up and they feel really smooth.
What do I do??

Deaky | Both of you need to contact GHS and get replacements. Send them pics and tell them that you refuse to send them back due to the added cost.

| | | | Well I contacted GHS yesterday and they got back to me right away stating they will send replacement sets. Great customer service.
I dunno how long it will take for the sets to come from the USA to the UK! |

Great customer service and a super quick response. Gotta love it. | got a set once w/ a cut string (I suspect it was GC's doing, not GHS) but they sent me a new string right away. really easy, no hassle . . . I've been using boomers exclusively on my P for a while never had another issue. |

| | | | So is it a new Set they send you or just individual strings? |

| | | | Dave only sent me replacements for the strings that were defective, not a whole set.
