Low B string 132 too big..

Sign in to disble this ad
Just got a set of D'addario chrome flatwounds, and stringed up my fiver here, and it turns out the hole in the bridge fits badly here, the string goes all the way, until the wounded blue stuff pulls in just by the nut, so now the string is there, tuned and everything, but the nut doesnt touch the bridge and there's about 2 cm of it on the "wrong" side of the bridge.

Should I just make the hole a bit bigger, or would it be a good idea to remove all that cloth stuff so it fits all the way down to the nut?

May sound obivous to you, but I've been playin bass for two months here now, and all the gadget and tool parts are all new to me.

Thanks.

Hmm, ok, so tomorrow I need to go to the tool store then, I guess buying a file will render me less costs than goin to the local guitar garage for a fixup, and it really is not a lot that needs to be grinded away here.

Got me a file today, nice rounded 3.2 mm, 4.50 EUR and it worked excellent.
