Today I put the D'Addario Chromes (.45-.100) on my Squier VM jazz and took the Webstrings Detroit Flats (.45 - .105) from the VM jazz and put them on my SX P bass.

What a great swap all the way around! The Squier has a great edgy sound for flats! I know some of the edge may wear off over time, but these strings have zing for flatwounds! Plus they are easy on the fingers!

And the bonus deal of the day was taking the Roto 77's off that P bass and adding the Webstrings! Talk about my Idea of the perfect P bass tone! And the strings are a lot less tension than the Rotos, feel great to my fingers and prolly won't tear up the frets like the rotos were starting to!

I know a lot of folks like the Rotosounds, but I just could not get into them and to my ear they sounded, well almost dead on the P bass. The Detroit Flats give the P a great thump that eas missing on the P.

I had been talking about doing this for some time and am now really glad I did.

Just thought I'd share.

I would hesitate to use the phrase "very good bassist" in any association with my name
