Question Mismatched flats...

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey all. I originally bought a set of the La Bella Deep Talking strings (the Jamerson ones) for my PB. The E string was too much for me to handle (im a beginner). So I bought another pair of the thinner deep talkin's and strung them up...

I saw this video on youtube of a guy stretching out his newly strung strings. Being the newbie that I am, I proceeded to do what he did. Literally grabbing the strings and shaking the bass... The A string proceeded to pop lol.

I decided to string up my bass w/ the original jamersons (which I could handle, save for that E string), but using the thinner E String...

A String 095
E String 096

Is there any reason why I should not proceed with this setup? I'm a little paranoid

No reason, but that's a big set of strings for a beginner. make sure your technique is good or you might cause some strain injuries.

I play my Jamerson equipped P with one finger, as alternating tires my hand out at the strength I feel I need to get the best tones from those monster strings.

BTW, you don't need to stretch strings out, just tune them to pitch. Pushing down on each string on both sides of the nut and saddles helps to settle the string quickly.
