So I strung up my new 5 string last week and I bought a set of Ernie Balls strings in a 5 string set. The E string was .100 in the pack where on a 4 string set its .105. I had an extra E string from a 4 string set (slightly used) so I decided to use that string instead of the one that came with the 5 string set. I noticed the E that came with the set did not have the same tone compared to the larger string in a 4 string set. I am assuming thats because it was a larger string and had a "fatter" sound? Cane .05 really make that big of a difference on the E string?
Do you alot of 5 string players buy 4 string sets and just get a LowB? I think juststrings.com sells them this way. |
