| Mix-n-matching strings?

I put TI flats on my Acoustic Bass Guitar not too long ago. They are definately perfect except for the horrid fret buzz on the second and third frets of the E. If I were to put on a D'addario Chrome flat E string and keep the other TI's, would this result in, for lack of a better term, something bad? Keep in mind that the Chromes are very high tension and the TI Jazz flats are very low tension. I know I could adjust the truss rod and keep all TI's, but that would sacrifice precious low action.
Has anyone ever successfully mixed-n-matched strings, or is it something you just don't do? |
