MM fatbeams on a Lakland DJ

Has anyone else tried this? I recently put a set on my stock DJ and was really impressed. Perhaps its because the slightly scooped sound of the fatbeams balanced the rather mid heavy nature of my DJ. Also, they feel great on this bass. Very nice tension and balance all around

So if you're like me and have been looking for the right strings for your DJ, I would highly reccomend trying the fatbeams.

I love me some fatbeams but man do they do dead quick..

Surprised to hear you call them "scooped" I found I had to cut certain mids b/c they were too much. I suppose the bass/electronics setup plays a part.

I am a bad judge of string longevity. My fingers kill just about any strings!!

Perhaps I'm hearing things differently, but I perceive the fatbeams to be kinda consistent with MM's tone. Fat and punchy lows, sharp highs, and not a ton going on in the midrange.

My DJ stock with stock strings sounded really really strong in the mids (upper mids especially), the fatbeams tamed that upper midrange and brought out more of the open top end I was looking for.

I only use MM Fat Beams on my Sadowsky J5 and they are the best I've heard on a jazz bass. They do have a "sccoped" tone by design (hence Marcus Miller sig). I never experienced them going "dead" quickly. I typically get 3 or 4 months of great tone from them.

+1 to the Fat Beams on the DJ. Another string that killed on my DJ5 were the Black Label Sadowskys. A little more tension, but they sounded great.
