modulus q5 b string - what guage

the Modulus manual lists the low b strings guage at 130. Can i get away with 125 or would that not fit snug enough in the nut.
Also would it change the sound much. ive read that fatter strings do not necessarilt mean better sound

Sure, you can get away with it. The string doesn't have to fit that snugly in the nut.

As for any difference in tone & feel, a .125 guage should sound just a bit less phat, with a feel that's a little more supple, less stiff. Don't be afraid to experiment and see for yourself. It's not going to hurt anything.

I have had every string known to man on my Q5 (rounds,flats, steel, nickel) and both 130 and 125. The 125s fit just fine and the difference in the "phat phactor" is negligible.

I always used a .125 high beam and it was as good as Bs get.

I use an SR2000 .127 on my Q5. It hammers. If there is fatter, I can't imagine having the courage to deploy it.
