MTD KZ5 best strings for recording.

Hello, New to the forum. We bought a Tobias MTD Kingston KZ 5 (Mahogany + Maple top + maple / rosewood neck) for the studio. This has been outfitted with Bartonlini pickups and preamp. Previous owner of the bass has strung with TI Flatwounds which he swears by. Most of the people who will be using the bass in the studio prefer rounds wounds as that is what they use on their current basses.

After reading the posts on this site, I am beginning to see why the old owner of our bass loves his TIs and flats in general. As in several posts by TBers, people found flat wounds though not as brilliant in tone as round wounds, sit better in the mix.

I do not have the bass yet, but when I finally get it delivered I will be taking it to my local guitar tech for setup. Could any of the members in this forum share their favorite bass strings for recording and give their reasons for it?

Plan to keep the Flats to see how they sound. Seems like a good choice as everyone else in the studio uses rounds on their basses. It would only give me a different sound to complement the other basses.

Thanks in advance! Dennis
