MTD strings on a Sadowsky?

Sign in to disble this ad
Has anyone tried MTD strings on their Sadowsky jazz? I'm a big Hi-Beam fan but loved the MTD strings on my MTD 535. Before I buy some to try out I figured I would get some input from other players.

Don't own a Sadaowsky, but I'm usually a High beam user too, and I find it to be a real treat when I can find some MTD strings. I use them on my vintage J's.
They're pretty similar to High Beams, but seems the windings are balanced just a hair better.

I'm an MTD guy by heart and have used the MTD strings on my Roscoe and loved the tone! I have a Sadowsky MV5 '59 that I've been thinking about putting MTD's on. Hmmm? I've been using D'addario XL nickels on there for the last two string changes cause I've liked nickles on a Jazz bass but I'll have to try it!

Well now you can have both of the things you enjoy: MTD strings and nickel. I have a pack in front of me: the MTD nickel's are available!

(no, I haven't tried them yet)

I ran out of the Sad bright nickels and went with an extra pack of MTD's I had. They sounded good on the Sad Jazz 5.

The only issue is the B string on the MTD set is a bit long, so there's a non-tapered portion of the string that wraps around the post. It's just cosmetic IME.

Between the two, I liked the Sad nickels on the Sad better, but it's just two versions of good.
