Much difference in tone and string tension between these two?
Looks like both are well liked here.

Have been using roundwounds for years.
Bought a used SX jazz with flats and am sold.
These strings have red silk at the winders and silver retainers at the bridge; gauged at approx 45,60,80,105.
Want to buy another set of flats for another Jazz bass with Dimarzio Model J's

Play rock, R&B, and blues.
Thanks in advance for your help

Thumbs up

I have been a Chromes fan for a while now but tried some Fender flats and WOW!!

A bit brighter than the Chromes and a bit stiffer but really nice, consistent string to string tone. I think I need to have basses with both in my tone arsenal.

You just missed free shipping on these at Music 123:

But, for $17.99, they are hard to beat.

Chromes are nice great overall flat string which will mellow out some with age. Fenders are good with a thump if you dont break your fingers from the tension...OUCH
