Muddy B string?

I bought some GHS Boomers and the B string has a noticeably muddier tone than the rest of the strings. Is this natural?

Details:

string gauge
string type
bass
bass scale
pickup configuration
pickup brand
amp
cabinet

But the short answer to your question is YES depending on the details.

wow. I didn't check on the specs, but when I compared the E on the B string to open E string, the E on the B string was very muddy compared to open E, as well as the other notes. I was just wondering if anybody else has had this experience...
