After a year and three sets of .150's (.150 b, .112 e, etc.) from Circle-K I cannot even think of going smaller. I have contemplated on getting a .142 B balanced set for slightly lighter tension but I love the sustain, sound and action I get with my current set. Now, when I try out a bass with "normal" strings, the .135 or .130 B they are strung with feels like an E string.

He is also local, so I can swing by and pick stuff up directly. If he sold Circle K's, I'd buy them from him. Since Circle K only sells direct, so I have to make that one exception, with no offense to Jason. The strings are that good, for me anyway.

The main thing is your fretting, plucking, and (if applicable) popping/slapping technique can be consistent across all the strings, with predictable tone. Especially in slap, conventional (unbalanced) sets required me to put more force on the higher strings and less on the lower. It's a no-care with a balanced tension set, and I'm digging it. |

Raz | I just don't care for them, lol. They are too large and don't feel comfortable either. I tried a Circle K set in a .150 or a .158 on a friends bass and I did not care for it. The other strings were fine, I just didn't like the B being that large. Quote:

We've talked about the .136 set before and I would not mind trying them. But like I said, Jason and his company have gone out of their way to help me out when I've needed it and his service is incredible. I'll only buy from basstringsonline.com.
With that being said, I'm ordering some D'Addarios to try out. Don Dawson, D'Addario's rep on here was great to me as well, so I'm looking forward to trying their balanced tension. Quote:

I don't slap at all, but I could see how that could be true.

I'll check on the overdrive. What part number or name? Is it bass specific? Last year they came out with the bass fuzz deluxe which we always have on hand as well. |

It's obvious that you want balanced tension with your strings and that you don't want light guage strings. I was thinking why not buy a 4 pack (EADG) strings that you like and buy a separate B string that you'll be happy with? That should get ya close to your balanced tension.
The B string is not a heavily used string on a 5er compared to the other 4. So, there should be more room for compromise.
