My new favorite string for my SR4 - TI Jazz Rounds

Sign in to disble this ad
I thought I'd share my new string findings. I'm using these on a couple other basses and thought I'd try them on my EBMM SR4. They sound great. Good highs and lows, and very nice mids--not harsh or honky--just right. For those who haven't used them they are very light gage stings, but because I don't play like I'm chopping wood it's not an issue for me. The feel really good.

Just thought I'd mention this in case it might benefit any other StingRay players who are looking for other string options. (I tried at the EB forum and they didn't like me mentioning another manufacture in the forum so it was removed, so I'll give it a shot here.)

Anyone else try the TI Jazz Rounds on a SR and like them?

I used them on a Bongo for a while, and I really liked them. Smooooooth sound, easy playing, last a long time.

I'm surprised that the JR344 set doesn't have the cult-like (and I don't mean that negatively) following that the JF344 set does; they are every bit as unique and refined.

I just put a set on my jazz bass a few days ago. I had to raise the action a little bit (about 1/32" or so...so not much) but I really like them. Very balanced and they play like butter. Just smooth and easy.

I'm not an aggressive player. I don't care for a thin or burpy tone. I like a big round fundamental note. Playing the TI rounds nice and easy is great.

These are my favorite strings. I don't own a SR though.

Would love to try them but at $60+ per set it's hard to take the chance that they don't work for me.

Keep looking on TB forum--you might find some lightly used at a good price.

I have bought some from Johnny Alien (the above poster). He was a dealer, but I don't know if he still is or has any.

Another option is trying them and selling them on TB if they are not your thing. As long as they are lightly used they will sell.

Sadly I had some issues with the distributor (not TI) and I am no longer selling them. It was a painful ordeal. I think that bassstringsonline.com (also run by a TB'er) has good deals for TB forums members.

If you happen to try some out and don't like them someone here should buy them from you.
