Need advice: 5str flatwounds on 36 scale

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi, guys

Few days ago I get a new bass, and it's first time for me that I have 5 strings and 36 scale. So, I need an advice - what strings have enought length to be installed on this scale bass? I prefer flatwounds, but I have to use roundwounds now, and it's not good for me.

Thank you,
ufna

Is it toploaded?

I would guess that D'Addario Chrome Extra Longs might fit. They fit my 35" strung through the body.

D'Addario has flatwounds in Super Long Scale, for basses that are through-the-body type stringing.

Check out the ECB81-5SL Chromes. There are 5-string light and medium gauge versions available.

Strings and Beyond, or Amazon.com should have those.

GHS Precision Flats. Carvin Flats (which are the same as the GHS Flats), and DR High Beam Flats all will fit just about any bass.

If it's through the body, I'm not sure any off the shelf string will fit a 36" bass.
